Donald Oren Bay
Donald Oren Bay, 84, of Bloomington passed away Monday, May 16, 2016 at IU Health Bloomington Hospice.
Born, April 8, 1932 in Brown County, he was the son of the late Fred and Hazel (Snyder) Bay.
Don was a member of the Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene in Bedford and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He retired from Keller Heating and Cooling working in Sales and Service.
Don was known for his contagious laughter and great sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed participating in church functions and being on the golf course.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Viola Mae Bay, two sons, Steve Bay (Cyndi) of Bloomington and Greg Bay (Misti) of Bedford, two daughters, Donna Broadstreet (James) of Solsberry and Shirley Mae Garvin (Don) of Bloomington, nine grandchildren, Dale and Jimmy Gilbert, Terry Ray and Barbara Dorman, DeeAnn and Hoy Darren Garvin (Angela), Caitlin and Cassie Moore and Chesney Bay, nine great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Beyonce, Malik, Aalyiah, Connor, Peyton, Sophia, Drew and Kinsley, one brother, Dale Bay of Indianapolis and one sister, Dorothy Gross (Jim) of Franklin, TN.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be 5-7pm Thursday, May 19, 2016 and 1-2pm Friday at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 2:00pm Friday at The Funeral Chapel with Pastor Paul Whiteford officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery where the Monroe County Veteran’s Honor Guard will perform military rites.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to either Gideons International or Valley Mission Church of the Nazarene Paving Campaign, 110 Hillcrest Way Bedford, IN 47421.
