Condolence From: Edward Clinch
Condolence: I think that I learned about her passing before now, but as I review the obituary anew, the feelings of warmth and love, and loss and grief, come upon me in 2023. All these powerful feelings remain from a life well-lived.
My prayers, thoughts, condolences, and good wishes for the happiest of memories go out to the survivors of this sweet person and mother. I believe we will see each other again in the afterlife with God. Life has been given to us to prepare for the next world, where all love and kindness will be revisited with our loved ones.

Condolence From: Lisa Li
Condolence: I had the privilege of working for two years for Erna (1994-1996). She was a constant source of comfort and encouragement for so many of the families in apartment housing at IU. I always experienced her as kind and selfless, ready to help at a moment's notice. She was the embodiment of love and all that is good in humanity. She dearly loved her children and was so proud of them and her new grandchild. She provided me with a wonderful example to follow of grace and mercy. Words alone cannot capture the gift of knowing her. The gift lives on in the hearts of all of us who knew her.

Condolence From: Sharon Wainshilbaum
Condolence: The world seems different today without Erna here. Her death has had an enormous effect on our community. She was so soft spoken, yet her influence was so strong. She communicated not with words, but with a smile, or an expression. That said it all. She was a very sincere, nonjudgmental person and she offered sincere empathy to others. For me, this is a loss to our community, for her family, it must leave a ragged gaping hole in their lives. Erna was much loved, and her loss leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. I offer my sincere condolences to her family.

Condolence: Mihal and I were so shocked when we learned of Erna's unexpected passing. We remember her as the one woman who was capable of defining grace and kindness. Always softly spoken, she was continuously looking for opportunities to personally encourage others. We are especially fond of the memory of celebrating Passover Seders with her and Alvin in their home and in the homes of friends. The many hundreds of Shabbat mornings and holidays we celebrated together will never be forgotten. Erna, we love you and Alvin so much and can never thank you enough for your decades of friendship.
