Obituary for Leo Ray Fulford

Leo "Ray" Fulford passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital following a short illness. Ray was born to Russell and Lola (Sexton) Fulford at home in Monroe County. Ray worked at the Memorial Union decorating wedding cakes and making hand carved ice sculptures for special parties and weddings. He retired from Monroe County Highway Department after thirty plus years of service. He had also worked for Royal Car dealerships.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra (Hamm) Fulford, two daughters, Hattie (Troy) Greene and Amy (Kevin) Myers, one son, Steven (Melissa) Fulford, seven grandchildren, Scott Hendrickson, Joshua (Amber) Hendrickson, Zach Fulford, Luke Fulford, Autumn (Jordan Vanover) Fulford, Alex Fulford, and Erin Fulford, three great-grandchildren, Allie Hendrickson, Levi Vanover, and Ella Grace Hendrickson, brother, David Fulford, brother-in-law, Bob Wood of Toledo, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Emery and Paul Fulford, three sisters, Ella Lindsay, Dorothy Richardson, and Ruth Collier.
Ray was always there when any family members, neighbors, or anyone needed anything done or help of any kind. He enjoyed plowing snow in the winter time out of the neighbors driveways for them. Ray was a hard worker all his life, starting at a very young age. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and driving his Miata. He also enjoyed carving bowls, spoons, and many more items by hand, which he gave most away to friends and family. He will be missed by all.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at The Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow at Hindustan Cemetery in Bloomington. Pastor Tracy Noel will officiate.
