Condolence: Wow! I was just relaxing in my home here in Roseburg, Oregon and something on TV caused me to Google Larry "Chico" Onesti (I called him Chico) and trala...up comes all this great stuff he did. Larry and I used to work out together at NU. I was a QB at NU when Ara Parseghian was coach. I went for a try out with Green Bay but....got a knee injury and went on to start a Security Corp in the Chicago area...sold it and started an Advertising biz that I still dabble with and..... one summer, back in the 70's, my wife and I went to Freeport, in the Bahamas, where we just happened to run into Larry and June and we had dinner together. Wonderful Memories I have of my time with "Chico".....looking forward to seeing him again...in my next life. Don Alm in Roseburg, Oregon

Condolence: Dear June, I was late in getting this sad news, and you have been in my thoughts and prayers continually since I learned of Larry's passing. He was a wonderful person, and the beautiful obituary captured his life so well. I realize that nothing can help much at this difficult time, but I hope it is some comfort to know that so many people are thinking of you and remembering Larry. If you need a change of scenery, my welcome mat is always out for you in CA. My very deepest sympathy is with you and your children. Much love, Martha

Condolence: I was sorry to read of Larry's passing. I recall those gourmet dinners you invited Al and me to, and your thoughtfulness to bring a picture of Al and me to Al's memorial service. That's a great picture of Larry. Condolences to June and the kids. Joan Lauer

Condolence: Larry Onesti was always such a kind, down-to earth, gentle man. He was so humble, putting the needs of others before his own. From his unassuming nature, few would know of his hugely successful football career both in college and in professional football, and few would know of his many honors and accomplishments academically and as a Geology Professor. Larry was interested in talking about his family more than those accomplishments. He was the patriarch of a great and loving Bloomington family.
