Obituary for Betty Jean Grounds

Betty Jean Grounds, 91, of Bloomington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday June 30, 2018 at the Hearthstone Health Campus.
Betty was born January 29, 1927 in Westphalia, Indiana and was the daughter of the late Ervin and Esther (Harting) Tiek. Betty graduated from Linton Stockton High School with the Class of 1945. She worked as a Secretary with the Purdue Extension Office and later retired from the Monroe County Health Department.
Betty was a 50+ year member of McDoel Baptist Church where she was the Organist for many of those years. She later also attended South Union Christian Church with her family. She was a former member of the Evening Bells Home Economics Club and traveled extensively with the Prime Time Club at Monroe Bank.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert J. Grounds (1994), her parents, sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Jack Sullivan and nephew Jay Sullivan.
Betty is survived by her daughter Lori (Bob) White, brother, Kenneth (Linda) Tiek , 5 grandchildren; Nick (Kimberly) White, Aaron (Nicole) White, Steven Dombrosky, Jason (Alex) Dombrosky, and Kayla (Ryan) Holmes, 5 great grandchildren; Ava White, Cooper White, Emma Dombrosky, Jackson White and Brock Dombrosky, 2 nieces; Kim Loeffler and Kiersten (Mark) Hagquist and nephew Brandon (Michelle) Tiek.
Visitation for Betty will be Saturday July 7, 2018 from 2-6 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, IN and on Sunday July 8, 2018 from 1:30 p.m. until service time.
Services will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at The Funeral Chapel with Jim Cain and Ron Hamric officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Contributions in Betty's memory may be given to: McDoel Baptist Church or South Union Christian Church Building Fund.
