Obituary for Charles M. "Jack" Shields

Charles M. "Jack" Shields, age 90, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington on March 30, 2018. Jack was born on Knightridge in Monroe County, Indiana on December 20, 1927 to Wade and Lydia (Lawson) Shields. Jack attended grade school at Butcher School in Salt Creek Bottom.
Jack was enlisted in the United States Army, and was a WWII Veteran. He loved his family and friends, and enjoyed Nascar, wood working, and watching the Colts.
Jack is survived by his children, Richie Shields (Becky), Vickie Bruce (Joe Stines), Debbie Johnson (Michael), and Teresa Freeman (Rusty), all of Bloomington, Indiana, and Paul Shields (Jamie) of Mooresville, North Carolina, grandchildren, Richie, Brady, Amy, Rhonda, Michael, Steven, Tonya, Misty, Tom, Rick, Luke, Corey, and James, 23 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, sister, Sue May (Bob), and several nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Kari Collins, brother, Joe Shields, and sisters, Oneida Caull, Mary Lou Glasgow, Oma Floyd, and Rachel Anderson.
Visitation will be 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, April 2, 2018 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at The Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington. Brother Michael Douglas will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington in Jack's name.
