Obituary for Hyscel Dean Ward

Hyscel Dean  Ward
Hyscel Dean Ward, 83, of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday October 28, 2017 at Garden Villa Nursing Home. Hyscel was born September 26, 1934 in Orange County, Indiana and was the son of the late Maurice and Wilma (Trinkle) Ward. He was a 1952 graduate of Orleans High School where he was a male cheerleader. Hyscel served his country proudly in the Army and was stationed in Germany.
For over 50 years you could find Hyscel at Ward’s Downtown Barber Shop where he cut hair, told stories, gave counsel and made everyone feel welcome. He had also worked for Walker’s Barber Shop and Woody’s. He was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.
Hyscel married Vera (Bennett) Ward n September 30, 1955 and together shared 62 years of marriage. Vera survives along with their children Susan (Daniel James) Miller and Joe (Dena) Ward of Bloomington. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren; Christopher Joe “CJ” Ward, April (Brett) Harden, Heather (Chris) Burks, Kayla Miller and Kyle Miller, 5 great grandchildren; Paisley Ward, Oliver Harden, Caitlynn Burks, Kayson Chandler and Remi Miller, brother Greg (Darlene) Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Marceline Walton and Lydia “Marcella” Clements.
Services for Hyscel will be 10:30 am Friday November 3, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. Tom Ellsworth will officiate the service and a graveside service with Rob Martindale officiating will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday at Bond’s Chapel Cemetery in Orange County, IN.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at The Funeral Chapel.
Memorial Contributions may be given in lieu of flowers to The Hyscel Ward Scholarship Fund. Checks can be made payable to the Orleans Alumni Association in care of Robert Henderson, Town of Orleans Office, 161 E. Price Ave. Orleans, IN 47452/
