Jack Kent Willsey
Jack Kent Willsey, age 65, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away at IU Health Bloomington Hospice House on October 17, 2017. Jack was born on August 24, 1952 in Gary, Indiana to Maurice Jack and Dorothy Carolyn (Barton) Willsey. Jack's passion has been all genres of music since he was a young man. He was a big sports fan, and he loved gardening, the Smokey Mountains, and taking drives to look at nature. He was a man of family and faith. Jack was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Bloomington. Jack was a custom home builder and won an award for doing so. He built over 50 homes in Bloomington. For many years, he was a mentor and sponsor through AA and helped many people. Jack graduated from Calumet High School in Gary in 1970.
Jack is survived by his wife, Charlotte "Char" (Holcomb) Willsey of Bloomington, daughter, Ruthie Sterrett (Greg) of Florida, son, Jake Willsey of Bloomington, step-daughter, Stephanie Baer (Will) of Indianapolis, step-son, Mark Darnell (Crystal) of Goshen, Indiana, grandson, Noah Sterrett of Florida, sister, Janean Willsey (Regina Collins) of Florida, brothers, Jim Willsey of Arizona and Jeffrey Willsey (Beth Jager) of Illinois, several nieces and nephews, and his loving dog, Cooper.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and son, Levi Willsey.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Friday, October 20, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington, Indiana 47401.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday at The Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Knightridge Cemetery. Pastor Jimmy Moore will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to St. Mark's United Methodist Church.
