Obituary for Gloria (Goldstein) Abrams

Gloria (Goldstein) Abrams
Gloria Abrams, 93, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017, at the Meadowood Health Pavilion in Bloomington. She had been a resident of the Meadowood Retirement Community for the past eight years.
Gloria was born in Chicago in 1924, the daughter of Jack and Goldie Goldstein. Her brother Bob Goldstein is living in Bloomington.
Gloria graduated from Mishawaka High School in northern Indiana and earned a degree from Northwestern University. In 1945, she met Stanley Abrams soon after his return from World War II, and they were married in December of that year.
Gloria had two sons, Jim and Bob, and the family spent the next decades in Indianapolis, where Stanley was an insurance agent and Gloria, in addition to raising her family, was a substitute teacher.
Gloria and Stan traveled extensively, making numerous trips to Europe, visiting son Bob and his family in Brazil and son Jim and his family in Japan and China.
Gloria is survived by son Jim (Keiko) of McLean Va., Bob (Janet Stoner) of Columbus, Ind., nieces Barbara Bonchek (Steve) and Judie Flynn (Tom) of Bloomington, six grandchildren, Andrew (Tara), Benjamin (Kristen), Joseph (Sharoda), Samuel (Kara), Michael (Nicole Lynch), and Anna Ryan (Matt), 10 great-grandchildren, and niece Fern Goodman (Josh). She was a member of the Beth Shalom Congregation in Bloomington.
She will be buried at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington next to husband Stan, who passed away in 2002. Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions be made to IU Health Hospice http://www.bloomingtonhospitalfoundation.org/give-now/?initiative=hospice-house
