Obituary for Donald H. Chambers

Donald H. Chambers, 92, of Smithville, formerly of Columbus, passed away Wednesday, June 21st, 2017, at IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
Born January 10th, 1925 in Madison, Indiana, he was the son of Harry and Elizabeth Pearl (Smith) Chambers.
Don was a mechanic in the United States Army Air Corps, and served overseas during WWII. He worked at PECO in Columbus for 26 years, and retired from General Motors in Indianapolis. He was a Charter Member of the NCHAA camping club and a member of the Hoosier Schooners camping club. Don could fix anything that needed fixing, be it electrical, automotive, or whatever else might need repaired. He was well known for his award winning peanut brittle, which he made countless pounds of during his life. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and loved spending time with his family.
Don is survived by his sons, Thomas Chambers (wife Pam) of Phoenix, AZ, and James Chambers (girlfriend Lisa) of Sterling, IL; his daughter, Barbara Bartlett of Smithville; grandsons, Jon Chambers, Joey Chambers, Jake Bartlett and Matt Bartlett; granddaughters, Natasha Chambers-Hall, and Karlie Chambers; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Don is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, MaryLou Chambers; his son, Michael Donald Chambers; his son-in-law, Tommy Joe Bartlett; and his brother, Burton Chambers.
A Celebration of Life and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
