Obituary for Zenovia Martyniuk

Zenovia Martyniuk, (formerly Krawczuk), 92, died on Friday, June 16, 2017 in Atlanta, GA. She was born on March 1, 1925 in the village of Zalisya Ukraine to Maria and Stephan Checzut. In 1953 she married Mykola Martyniuk in Montreal Canada, and together they raised their three children, Nela, Luba, and Lev. Zenovia received her teaching degree in Mitenvalden Germany, and worked for Indiana University Bloomington. She was best known for her Ukrainian Easter Eggs. There were numerous newspaper and magazine articles written about her artistic talent in designing these eggs (Pysanky). Services will be held for Bloomington residents at Valhalla Memorial Gardens, 310 N. Johnson Ave, Bloomington IN Friday June 23 at 11:30 am in the Mausoleum. There will also be a service in Carmel IN on Friday June 23 at 6:30 pm at White Chapel Church, 5155 E. 116th St, Carmel IN. Surviving members of Zenovia include daughters Nela Wainscott of Orlando FL, and Luba Martyniuk of Atlanta GA, son Lev Martyniuk of Cincinnati OH, 7 Grandchildren: Natalka McIntosh, Nick Wainscott, Luke Wainscott, Nate Underwood, Hannah Underwood, Emma Martyniuk, and Adrian Martyniuk, two Great Grandchildren: Samuel McIntosh, and Selah McIntosh.
