William Dunbar Ellis, 86, of Ellettsville and formerly of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday morning at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
William was born November 4, 1930 in Utica, New York and was the son of the late John and Grace (Dunbar) Ellis. William was of the Catholic Faith. He worked from 1967 until 1978 with Woolco Department Store and from 1983-1994 with Kohls. William helped to start the Kohls stores in Indiana.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy (Delaney) Ellis of Ellettsville, son, William Ellis (Christina) of Ellettsville, son Robert Thone (Jane) of Paoli and 5 grandchildren, Katherine Grace Ellis, Patrick Roy Ellis, Dustin Thone, Eric Thone and Timothy Thone.
William was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Grace Guerriero.
Visitation for William will be from 5-7 pm on Thursday January 12, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 Third St. Bloomington. The Monroe County Veteran’s Honor Guard will have Military Rites at 5:30 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be private in Indianapolis.
