Donald Buford Sunday
Donald Buford Sunday, 75, of Bloomington passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Brown County Health and Living Center.
Born March 1, 1941 in Glendale Florida, he was the son of General Lee and Josie (Frazier) Sunday.
Don graduated from Walton High School in DeFuniak Springs, Florida in 1959 where he still holds the record for the long jump and high jump in track. He then attended Coffee Springs College in Coffeyville, Kansas.
He went on to serve four years in the U.S. Air Force being discharged in Kokomo. There he worked for Chrysler Corporation as a Time Study Engineer for 30 years. He was also a U.A.W Union Leader for Local #685.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #18 in Bloomington.
Don and his wife Nila retired to Bloomington 21 years ago where Don was able to enjoy his hobbies of fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sporting events.
Survivors include his wife, Nila (Schramm) Sunday, two sons, James Sunday and Neil Sunday, one daughter, Tanya Sunday, one step-daughter, Leola K. Wolfe, two step-sons, Kevin Inman (Rhonda) and Keith Inman, one daughter-in-law, Teresa Crouch, 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and a half-sister, Hazel Roney.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Jewel Chronister, Elloise Pease, one brother, Joe Howard Holly and step-son, Kenny Inman.
Visitation will be 11am-1pm Friday, May 13, 2016 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday at The Funeral Chapel with Rhonda Inman officiating. Burial will follow at Little Union Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Stone Belt Residential Facility, 2815 E. Tenth St. Bloomington, IN 47408.
