Theo Hilda Stillions (Shields)
Theo Hilda (Shields) Stillions, 101, of Bloomington passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Bloomington.
Born, March 27, 1914 in Bloomington she was the daughter of the late Grover and Etta (Parker) Shields.
Theo attended Handy Elementary School and graduated from Bloomington High School
She was a wonderful cook and cooked for Herman Wells the President of Indiana University. She was the first cook at Bradford Woods Camp. She was employed at the Monroe County School Corporation and the last 28 years of her career she cooked at Sanders School.
Theo was baptized into the Pentecostal Church at the age of seven and received the Holy Ghost. She has served the Lord for 94 years and was a long time Sunday School Teacher and also helped with the 4-H Club. She was a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Ellettsville.
Theo traveled all over the continental United States with her husband and daughters and she flew to Alaska at the age of 89.
She was full of life and was “Nana” to many. Her passion was cooking and quilting.
Survivors include two daughters, Althura Ann (Stillions) Hope of Waldron, Marjorie Ellen (Stillions) Chastain and her husband Delmar of Bloomington, grandchildren, Charles Daniel Hope (Audrea Blackwell Hope) of Waldron, Douglas Ray Chastain (Rebecca Rader Chastain) of Bloomington, great grandchildren, Cole and Kennedy Chastain and Cassandra Hope, one sister, Nancy (Shields) Sears, sister-in-law Nancy (Green) Shields, great nephew, Jeffrey Stillions and his mother, Sue Stillions as well as many nieces and nephews.
Theo was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Aubrey Stillions, sisters, infant Beverly Shields, Naomi Russell and Mary Bruner, brother, Norman Shields, son-in-law, H. Daniel Hope and nephew, Charlie Joe Stillions.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all the nurses and aids at the Golden Living Center for the kindness and care given to Theo.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Shiloh Pentecostal Temple, 77 E. Smithville Rd. Bloomington, IN 47403. Brothers Judson Sears and Fred Stanger will officiate. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8pm Thursday at the Shiloh Pentecostal Temple.
The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington is handling arrangements.
