Obituary for
Emma Pearl Leonard (Randall)
Services for Emma Pearl Leonard, 93, of Bloomington, who died at home on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, will be at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, October 10th, at the United Presbyterian Church, Bloomington, Indiana, with the Reverend Robert Lorimer officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, in Aurora, Indiana, later that same day.
Born August 12, 1922, in Aurora, Indiana, she was the daughter of Clyde and Pearl Randall. After high school graduation from Aurora High School in 1940, she worked as a secretary for Seagram’s Distilleries in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, during World War II, as their factories were converted to making ammunitions for the war effort. On March 31, 1945, she married her sweetheart, Staff Sergeant Raymond B. Leonard, who was home on leave following the successful war effort in Europe. Emma and Ray had a family of five wonderful children, starting with Stephen in 1946. Like many intelligent women from her generation, she served as a wife, mother, and housekeeper for her family for many years. Clyde was born in 1948, Mark in 1950, Kimberly in 1956, and Raymond II in 1959.
After rearing five successful children and serving as a proud and faithful wife to husband, Ray, Emma worked as a secretary once again in various places where the family lived. She retired from the Indiana University Purchasing Department in 1988.
Survivors include one sister, Olive Bonham of Hamilton, Ohio; four sons, Stephen Leonard (Kristine) of Iron Mountain, Michigan, Clyde Leonard (Susan) of Jasper, Indiana, Mark Leonard of Daytona Beach, Florida, and Raymond Leonard II (Joyce) of Bloomington, Indiana. Her precious daughter, Kimberly Simpson (John), lives in Bloomington as well. There are also nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She has been truly blessed by our Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond.
