Obituary for Wilma I. Carpenter

Wilma I. Carpenter, 87of Bloomington passed away Friday, September 18, 2015 at I.U. Health Hospice House. She was born December 30, 1927 in Bloomington to Grover and Blanche (Fleener) Young. Wilma had worked at RCA and also with her husband driving a truck. She was a member of Stanford Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary of Bloomington. Surviving is one son, Thomas Tarter and his wife Rose Mary of Vincennes, sister, Treva Byers and her husband John, brother, “TR” Ralph Young of Bloomington, special niece, Shirley Gibson and her husband Ron of Bloomington, three grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy Carpenter (12/25/1991), sisters, Thelma Whaley and Pauline Breedlove, brother, infant Eugene Young, great granddaughter Kira Phillips and nephew Wayne Young. Wilma requested no services and a private burial will be at a later date. The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
